Fear not! Do not be afraid! There are hundreds of Bible proclamations encouraging us to fight fear and intimidation. Memorizing a bible verse, however, is not the same as living a Bible verse. Being a hearer of the Bible is easier than actually putting these verses into practice.

I deal with and fight through fear and intimidation on a regular basis.

Please allow me to share a personal example of my struggles with fear and intimidation.

In January of 2021, I began a YouTube channel known as Sola Melodica. Sola Melodica is a music video reaction channel with a twist. I react to songs that are considered secular and then share the gospel based on the lyrics of the song.

Not everyone is convinced that this method is a great idea.

Some Christians feel as though I am being worldly. Atheists blast me on the existence of God.

Satanists regularly issue their particular challenges. Every day I have comments informing me that I’m backslidden, judgmental, crazy, hell-bound, or simply the dumbest person on the planet.

People can be mean. I have pretty tough skin but this is still challenging.

Daily I have to decide whether to obey God and continue to crank out videos or cave to the intimidation of Christians, non-Christians, Atheists, and Satanists.

That’s just one example of me fighting through fear, intimidation, and cowardice. The fight is real and the Bible is our weapon of choice.

My hope is that the following Bible verses inspire you to obey God and to overcome intimidation despite the inevitable pain and discomfort.

INTIMIDATION

Fear is not necessarily a bad thing. At times, fear is designed to keep us safe and put us on notice of dangerous situations. It becomes an issue when we’re intimidated by spiritual forces attempting to keep us from obeying the will of God.

Psalm 27:3 Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident.

Psalm 46:2 Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea.

Matthew 10:31 Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Joshua 10:8 And the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not fear them, for I have given them into your hands. Not a man of them shall stand before you.”

Judges 6:23 But the Lord said to him, “Peace be to you. Do not fear; you shall not die.”

Jeremiah 5:22 Do you not fear me? declares the Lord. Do you not tremble before me? I placed the sand as the boundary for the sea, a perpetual barrier that it cannot pass; though the waves toss, they cannot prevail; though they roar, they cannot pass over it.

BIBLE VERSES ON OVERCOMING

Love is often reduced to a gooey, smoochy, romantic idea. Yes, that’s part of it (kisses and candy) but there is a greater form of love as well. Think of a mama bear protecting her cubs or consider a mom busting into a crack house to drag her teenage daughter out of it.

Perfect love casts out fear.

I John 4:18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

Deuteronomy 31:8 It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.

Isaiah 43:5 Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and from the west I will gather you.

I John 4:4 Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

IS “FEAR NOT” IN THE BIBLE 365 TIMES

That’s a silly notion. I’m not sure who was the first person that mentioned that idea but they were mistaken. “Fear not is mentioned 365 times in the Bible, one for each day of the week” sounds great but is inaccurate. There are, however, enough to get us through bouts of fear and fill us with courage.

Ruth 3:11 And now, my daughter, do not fear. I will do for you all that you ask, for all my fellow townsmen know that you are a worthy woman.

Genesis 15:1 After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.”

Revelation 2:10 Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.

Isaiah 41:13 For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”

Exodus 20:20 Moses said to the people, “Do not fear, for God has come to test you, that the fear of him may be before you, that you may not sin.”

Deuteronomy 3:22 You shall not fear them, for it is the Lord your God who fights for you.

Isaiah 8:12 Do not call conspiracy all that this people calls conspiracy, and do not fear what they fear, nor be in dread.

Lamentations 3:57 You came near when I called on you; you said, ‘Do not fear!’

SCRIPTURES ABOUT FEAR

I Samuel 12:14 If you will fear the Lord and serve him and obey his voice and not rebel against the commandment of the Lord, and if both you and the king who reigns over you will follow the Lord your God, it will be well.

BIBLE VERSES ABOUT COURAGE

General Patton is credited with saying, “Courage is fear being held down for a minute longer.” I don’t believe that courage can be taught in a class. When we need it we have it and we must act upon it immediately.

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Joshua 10:25 And Joshua said to them, “Do not be afraid or dismayed; be strong and courageous. For thus the Lord will do to all your enemies against whom you fight.

2 Samuel 10:12 Be of good courage, and let us be courageous for our people, and for the cities of our God, and may the Lord do what seems good to him.

I Chronicles 22:13 Then you will prosper if you are careful to observe the statutes and the rules that the Lord commanded Moses for Israel. Be strong and courageous. Fear not; do not be dismayed.

2 Chronicles 15:7 But you, take courage! Do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded.

Psalm 31:24 Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!

2 Corinthians 5:8 Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

SCRIPTURES ABOUT DISCOURAGEMENT

Discouragement is often considered sadness or feeling defeated. Discouragement is actually an absence of courage.

Colossians 3:21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.

2 Chronicles 20:17 You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.

Ephesians 3:13 I ask you, therefore, not to be discouraged because of my sufferings for you, which are your glory.

Hebrews 12:3 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.

Hebrews 12:5 And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: “My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him.

THE FEAR OF THE LORD

The fear of the Lord is often overlooked in many churches. Those who dare to discuss it often do so inaccurately. The balance between a healthy fear of God and legalism is often difficult to obtain. It’s easier for preachers to just skip it.

Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.

Proverbs 15:33 The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom, and humility comes before honor.

Psalm 25:14 The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear Him, and He makes known to them His covenant.

Ecclesiastes 12:13 The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.

Leviticus 25:17 You shall not wrong one another, but you shall fear your God, for I am the Lord your God.

I Peter 2:17 Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.

Exodus 1:17 But the midwives feared God and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but let the male children live.

Habakkuk 3:2 Lord, I have heard the report about You, and I was afraid. Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years, In the midst of the years make it known. In anger remember mercy.

QUOTES ABOUT FEAR

We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light — Plato

Do not be afraid; our fate cannot be taken from us; it is a gift — Dante

A man that flies from his fear may find that he has only taken a shortcut to meet it — J. R. R. Tolkien

Of all the liars in the world, sometimes the worst are our own fears — Rudyard Kipling

Fear defeats more people than any other one thing in the world — Ralph Waldo Emerson

SPIRIT OF FEAR

The spirit of intimidation is real and it can be destructive. We must refuse to bow to it and constantly fight it with the Word. Well-meaning Christians can be the source of this nefarious spirit.

Don’t give in to it! Fight the good fight of faith!

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of timidity but of power and love and discipline.
