The Acts of the Apostles

The supernatural power of grace became quite evident after the ascension of Christ.

Acts 4:33 With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all.

Grace, working with power, is why Stephen was able to perform signs and wonders.

Bible Scriptures About the Grace of God — Romans

The book of Romans has the most bible verses about grace. Saint Paul’s epistle to the church in Rome is a theological tour de force.

Romans 3:23-24 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

Grace is a gift.

Romans 5:15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!

Romans 5:20-21 The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Paul is clear that grace is not a license to sin. Antinomianism is an illegitimate biblical interpretation of grace.

Romans 6:1-2 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?

Romans 6:12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, so that you obey its desires.

Our spiritual gifts are a type of grace. Grace is multifaceted.

Romans 12:6a We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.

Bible Verses About Grace To the Church in Corinth

There seems to be a paradox when it comes to grace. Paul indicates that grace, in effect, made him. However, he worked hard too. It reminds me of the text that states God is working in us but we also must work out our own salvation.

I Corinthians 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.

II Corinthians 4:15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.

Paul refers to the grace of giving in the book of Romans and in his second letter to the church in Corinth.

I Corinthians 8:7 But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness, and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.

II Corinthians 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake, he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.

In the midst of our darkest hour, His grace is all that we need.

II Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
