Have you ever been curious about the inherent power in the Name of Jesus? As a new believer, I was often perplexed as to why nearly everyone would tag on “In Jesus Name” at the end of their prayers. Apparently, it was more than just a magic word or phrase.

There is power in the Name of Jesus! Jesus delegated authority to His church to use His name. Healing is experienced through the Name of Jesus. Prayers are submitted in the authority and in the Name of Jesus. Deliverance from demonic influence is achieved through the Name of Jesus. Most importantly, salvation is obtained through the Name of Jesus!

In this post, we’re going to cover at least 31 Bible verses pertaining to the Name of Jesus. If this article is a blessing to you please share it with your friends and family.

Healing, regrettably, remains a controversial subject in many Christian circles. Here are some bible verses about how healing is obtained in the Name of Jesus.

Acts 3:6 Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”

James 5:14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.

Acts 4:30 Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.

John 20:31 But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God and that by believing you may have life in his name.

Hebrews 1:4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.

Matthew 10:21-22 Brother will deliver brother over to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death, and you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

Acts 3:16 By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see.

John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

I Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Matthew 18:19-20 Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.

Luke 10:17 The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!”

Acts 19:31 Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, “In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.”

Mark 9:38-39 “Teacher,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.” “Do not stop him,” Jesus said. “For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me.”

Acts 16:18 And this she kept doing for many days. Paul, having become greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And it came out that very hour.

God gave Jesus a name that is above every name on heaven and on earth. One day, all of creation will bow down to Him in majestic awe and reverence. The light, so to speak, will come on for many but it will be too late. Regrettably, in an instant, their indifference, hatred, or animosity towards Him will melt away. Unfortunately, so will their opportunity to turn to Him in faith and repentance.

Philippians 2:9-11 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

John 1:12-13 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

Acts 21:13 Then Paul answered, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be imprisoned but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

2 Timothy 2:19 But God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.”

Other religions have their “holy men” but none of those became sin for us that we might become righteous. We must help our friends, family, and neighbors understand the significance of the Gospel and that there is just something about the name of Jesus.

Acts 22:16 And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.

I John 2:12 I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven for his name’s sake.

Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Luke 24:46-48 He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.

Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.

I John 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.

Romans 10:13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Praying in the Name of Jesus is more than just tacking on a buzzword at the end. I’ve been corrected for not saying “In Jesus’ Name” at the end of a prayer. It’s not so much of a magic word but it’s operating in His authority.

John 14:13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

John 16:23-24 In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

John 14:14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.

John 15:16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

Matthew 1:23 “Behold, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a Son, and they shall name Him Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.”

Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Luke 1:30-32 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David.

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

The church must get back to our Gospel roots of preaching the gospel and making disciples. Designing comfortable gathering places and reacting to social ills is not the Gospel. Jesus didn’t mince words when He gave the Church its final assignment. Often, we’re doing everything except the one thing He told us to do.

Mark 16:16-18 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name, they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

Matthew 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Acts 9:28 So he went in and out among them at Jerusalem, preaching boldly in the name of the Lord.

Revelation 19:13 He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God.

Revelation 2:13 I know where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is. Yet you hold fast my name, and you did not deny my faith even in the days of Antipas my faithful witness, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.

Revelation 19:16 On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus; there’s just something about that name.
Master, Savior, Jesus, like the fragrance after the rain;
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, let all Heaven and earth proclaim
Kings and kingdoms will all pass away,
But there’s something about that name.
Kings and kingdoms will all pass away,
But there’s something about that name.
